Dear Parents,

This is our final FAQ for the 2019-2020 school term. I want to thank each and every one of you for a great school year. On Friday, May 1, 2020, we had held our second and final Parent Town Hall for the school year. This FAQ is designed to provide a summary of the Town Hall and respond to some questions that came up in the meeting.

WRAP UP OF 2019-2020

Grades - This is a reminder that the grades that students earned during eLearning are designed to improve students' grades. Students’ grades will not be lowered if they do not complete their assignments. I strongly encourage you to keep your scholar engaged by having them to attend the live lessons and submit the independent assignments.

Virtual Honor’s Day – LPA will be celebrating student’s accomplishments during our first Virtual Honor’s Day. The celebrations will occur for each homeroom. The dates are as follows:

Dear Parents,

I trust that everyone is following the CDC guidelines and that this update finds you and your family well. We continue to pray that this challenge will soon be behind us. We have had a few parents that have been impacted and we are so thankful that they have reported to us that they are now in good health.

On Tuesday, April 14, 2020, you may have received a Guide for Students and Families for 2019-2020 from the DeKalb County School District.  As you already know, we are an authorized charter of DeKalb County Schools and some of the items listed in the guide are not applicable to LPA.  In the table below, I have provided an update for our families, according to each page in the guide, to clarify LPA’s position:

3-29 FAQ for Parents

March 29, 2020

Dear Parents,

On Monday, March 30, LPA will launch Week 3 of eLearning. We appreciate our teachers, students, and families who worked together to make Week 1 eLearning at LPA a huge success. During the implementation of Week 2, we utilized the feedback from our families and teachers to modify our scheduleto include more live lessons, virtual field trips and continuing to host our online parent conferences. As a reminder, there are no live lessons on Fridays and students should use this day to engage in virtual field trips (see our website for suggestions) and to complete and submit any assignments that they have not completed during the week.

April 6 – April 10 is Spring Break for Leadership Preparatory Academy. We will take a recess from eLearning and will resume back on April 13, 2020. Remember, eLearning Days are school days that will not be made up, so this work, what children are learning, and the grades they are earning are important.

eLearning FAQ - Week of March 23rd

Dear Parents,

On Monday, March 23, LPA will launch Week 2 of eLearning. We appreciate our teachers, students, and families who worked together to make Week 1 successful. As our current situation continues to evolve, our teachers are engaging in more in depth professional eLerning in order to create courses for our students. Therefore, we will be reformatting our schedule as a result of the feedback from our students, parents and teachers.

Beginning, in Week 2, students will be allowed to submit work by 7:00 pm without penalty. Fridays will be reserved for teacher planning days, professional learning and parent conferences. Parents should use this time to do virtual field trips, login reading time and other activities that are listed on the website. Students who have fallen behind in their assignments can use this day to complete their assignments with a late penalty. Remember, eLearning Days are school days that will not be made up, so this work, what children are learning, and the grades they are earning are important.
